Post the First: Inquiry into Values?

Boy, getting started sure is difficult! This is the fourth sentence I've written and half deleted before continuing! I guess it's because I know so many people will be reading this, and thus attaining some judgment based on what they read here. Writing -- no matter what kind -- is funny that way. We are always "judging" (call it whatever you like) or, at the very least, making decisions based on writing we receive. Despite (or, dare I say "because of"?) our better interests, we tend to place too much weight on writing and too little on the process. But I could be wrong, and I may very well be speaking extemporaneously. In any case, writing in all forms is here to stay, as are the preconceptions, judgments, and assessments lying thereof.

Speaking of writing, then, let me proceed. I'm writing this for a class (ENG 709), but I'm glad, since I've always wanted a blog and never got around to writing/creating one. I guess I just thought no one would be interested in hearing my daily musings about nothing (or "a whole lot of something" to quote Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus). But, here I am! (And surviving the massive shift in tectonic plates that occurred when I clicked, "sign up"!)

I should explain the title. It's taken from E.E. Cummings' 100 Selected Poems ( #88), and it's my favorite. I'll include the text of the poem so that my readers will have some context for the title of my blog.
